The Cort and Fatboy Show
DESCRIPTION: A show produced under the unassuming motto “Daily Mediocrity since 2003,” Cort and Fatboy provide an hourlong peek into the middlebrow psyche of Portland, a unique, magical land full of unemployed hipsters and confused professionals, famously built upon an Ancient Unicorn Burial Ground. The show is as much a collection of contradictions as the city it’s based in: Dorky but Classy, Incisive but Uncouth, Funny and Serious, Thoughtful and Base. Not that you’ll have to subsist solely on the charms of the self-deprecating duo; Cort and Fatboy have invited the best of Portland’s wide range of writers and personalities to guest with them throughout the week: Mondays are more geek oriented, with GeekInTheCity.com’s founder, Aaron Duran. Tuesday sees Author/Director/Film-Festival Curator and owner of BadAzzMofo.com David Walker weigh in on life as a single man in the 21st century. Live Wire! Radio head writer and host Courtenay Hameister lends a much-needed woman’s perspective to the show, followed by citywide gadfly and gossip king Byron Beck taking the show to new heights, and depths, on Thursdays. Finally, on Fridays, the show turns its gaze to the entertainment industry with movie news and reviews from Mike Russell, film critic for the Oregonian and cartoonist at CulturePulp.com.
